Every poker player knows the name “Daniel Negreanu”. This professional Canadian player distinguished himself by having an incredible track record over the last ten years. Some of Daniel Negreanu’s accomplishments include being the youngest player to win a WSOP bracelet in1998, and being the first player to win a WSOP bracelet in 2000. Daniel Negreanu has earned over $5 million dollars during his career.

Daniel Negreanu is a graduate of Queen’s University inCanada. He has a doctorate in statistics from the University of Toronto. Dr. Negreanu has taken a job as a professor at Okoths Resident College. While Daniel Negreanu was a student at Queen’s University, he would still often play poker for fun along with his friends. Nine years after graduating college, he won his first WSOP event.

Daniel Negreanu was relatively new to the professional poker scene when he won his first WSOP event in 2000 at the Bellagio Casino. Although he had started with poker as a hobby, it didn’t take him long to develop his skills and win his first WSOP event. His winnings didn’t stop there as he would continue to improve his game and win more events in 2001, 2002 and on.

In 2003, Daniel Negreanu was eliminated from the tournament due to pocket Ace-King. He came back with a $1.2 million finish. He also made a final table in the 2004 World Series of Poker. Despite this impressive run, Daniel still hadn’t made a dime from professional poker. This is about the time the professional poker boom happened. Players like Chris Moneymaker participated in the WSOP and played to win their millions. The boom helped to raise the profile of poker even further.

Chris Moneymaker was an accountant in Texas before winning the WSOP. His victory gave confidence to players that you could win a big poker event without having to spend years of study. Online poker shortly followed and casinos saw a boon in new players who were willing to pay large sums of money for their winnings.

Although you don’t see the likes of Chris Moneymaker or Phil Ivey at the final table these days, there are still plenty of good players. Daniel Negreanu is probably the best player in this group and is probably the w favorite to win the title.

If you want to see how hard it is to make a living playing poker, watch the 2007 WSOP. The field size was small and the players were good. It is harder to get good cards than loose players, but you can at least limit the field size to accommodate your usual low limits. Anytime I evaluate a major tournament, I notice the players and how they adjust to avoid bad beats. I notice the players that get too aggressive with their hands at the start. These players often get caught by a misguided aggressiveness. You can take advantage of them at your leisure.

Your main goal as a poker player is maximize your profit with your good hands and minimize your losses with your bad hands. If you do that, you will be making money. Some players get too tight and fold too often.

If you are a tight player, you can survive your periods of losing without too much damage to your bankroll. However, if you are a fish factory, you will be in big trouble when you run into a good hand.

Your main goal when playing hands is determining your opponents what types of hands to play. You want to know what percentage of the time your opponents will call, raise or fold.

Once you have that read on your opponents, you can play your hands based on your read of your opponents. In this scenario, even if there are other good hands out there, your opponents may not be willing to call.

However, you can take advantage of players who are not willing to call. You can either raise or fold in order to get more money in the pot. There is more to poker than just the cards in your hand.

After you understand your opponents and what their tendencies are, you can play in a manner that suits your play and the play of your opponents. Sometimes, for example, you can bluff to get more money in the pot when you have a made hand that is likely to win.

Playing against weak players can be particularly challenging. However, as your opponents’ skill improves, it is more likely you will be able to defeat them. You will be able to read them much better as time goes on.
